13U Head Coach: Jonathan Douillard

Coach Douillard grew up just north of Atlanta in Acworth, Georgia.  He played four seasons in the East Cobb Organization.  During his 15 and 16 year old seasons, the EC Astors won AAU, USSSA, Super Seven, EC Classics and multiple other tournaments to make them the #1 15 and 16 year old teams in the nation.  Not to be out done, Coach Douillard’s 17 and 18 year old EC Yankees won the Connie Mack World Series, along with countless other tournaments to allow the EC Organization to be voted by Baseball America the #1 amateur program of the decade. Coach Douillard was also the starting 3rd baseman for his State Champion Harrison High School team that featured players like Corey Patterson, Ben and Chad Sutter and Adam Everett just to name a few.

Coach D passed up the opportunity to play pro ball after being drafted out of high school by the Seattle Mariners to start his career at Vanderbilt University.  Jonathan started all four years behind the dish for the Commodores and during his junior year was also Vanderbilt’s closer.  Coach Douillard still holds a number of Vanderbilt and SEC defensive and catching records from fielding percentage to caught stealing.  Coach D was a part of the 2004 team that played Texas in the Super Regional and were two games away from the College World Series.

After his senior year, Coach Douillard was drafted and signed by the Chicago Cubs, where he spent three seasons. Reaching every level, he caught some of the games best pitchers, including Greg Maddox, Kerry Woods and Carlos Zambrono.  After being offered a player/coaching job with the Cubs, Douillard decided to get back into Commercial Real Estate.

Jonathan is now a broker with the Chas. Hawkins Co. where he interned his senior year at Vanderbilt. Coach Douillard is married to his wonderful wife, Kate, who also graduated from Vanderbilt.  She has her Master of Science in Nursing and will be the Tennessee Dores team nurse.

13U Head Assistant Coach: Deron Griffis

Coach Griffis is a native Nashvillian. He played infield for Overton High School and provided a very solid glove both up the middle and at the corners for a strong Overton squad. Coach Griff had much success on the field and became a true student of the game, understanding situations and philosophies to the fullest.

After high school, Coach Griff attended and graduated from Belmont University, where he played baseball in a number of leagues to include Belmont’s summer program and the Stan Musial League.  Through college, coach continued to study and understand the game and its finer points.

Coach Griffis finished his time at Belmont but did not leave the game.  He continued to stay involved by coaching, playing and umpiring.  The way Coach approaches the game allowed him to excel in each of the positions he held.

Coach Griff will be the head assistant coach this year for the Tennessee Dores. His focus will be with the infielders and hitters. His knowledge and abilities with the infielders make him a valuable asset to any team.  His passion and dedication to the young men that he coaches is extraordinary. “Coach Griffis was a blessing to our boys as a coach, a ball player and as a person.  He is exactly the type of person I want around me, and the true blessing was for me to have him be a part of this program,” Coach Douillard said.

Coach Griffis has three beautiful kids and a wonderful wife who is very understanding of the time and commitment he makes to help all the players that he teaches.  Coach is the Regional Manager for Paper Plus Nashville where he services some of the states biggest names.

13U Assistant Coach: Stephen Prather

Coach Prather is also an East Cobb product and Georgia boy.  Prather attended Marist High School and played a number of seasons for East Cobb.  During his senior year, Coach Prather played second base for the East Cobb Yankees with players such as Brent Abernathy, Chad Sutter and his older brother Scott Prather.  Coach Prather enjoyed the East Cobb success all the way to Vanderbilt University where he would hold the reins as a pitcher and infielder for the Commodores.
Coach Prather is also a player that became a student of the game.  His knowledge runs thick through pitching and understands technique, mechanics and mental approach better than many I have seen.

Prather’s career at Vanderbilt was not only measured by his baseball achievements.  He was also an Academic All-American.  Coach Prather was able to excel both on the field and in the classroom at a school like Vanderbilt.  This achievement was not obtained by many.  Coach Prather had three great years at Vanderbilt where he pitched, played infield and occasionally made an appearance in the outfield.  His ability to play anywhere on the diamond made him a valuable tool in the Commodore lineup.

After college, Coach Prather stayed in baseball by becoming an assistant coach for the great team he once played for, the East Cobb Yankees, under James Beavers.  Prather worked with the pitchers, hitters and outfielders for the Yanks and helped lead us to a Connie Mack World Series.  After his stint with the Yanks, Coach Prather moved up to Washington to dabble in politics and soon realized he needed to get back in baseball.

Coach Prather is currently with the Chas. Hawkins Co as a broker where he specializes in office listings and tenant representation.  He lives here in Nashville with his wonderful wife Emily.
