Nashville Amateur Youth Baseball Program

Mission Statement

The Tennessee Dores was formed in 2007 as a highly competitive, motivated and educational youth baseball program for the Nashville and Greater Nashville area.  The Dores was created to provide Nashville ball players with a platform to develop their skills on the field, learn the game both on and off the field, ready themselves for the next step in their baseball careers, grow and develop as individuals and men, and provide each player with a stage to be seen by those at the next level.

The Dores are a highly competitive team seeking players with aspirations of playing baseball at the high school, college and pro level. Each and every Tennessee Dore must be committed to doing what is necessary to achieve these heights.

Hard work and dedication has no age limit, and this program will be structured around the principals and concepts used by the Vanderbilt Commodores.  “Work like no other today, so you can play like no other tomorrow.”

"I'm just a ballplayer with one ambition, and that is to give all I've got to help my ball club win. I've never played any other way."

-Joe DiMaggio

"He just went out and did his job every day."

-Bill Dickey about Lou Gehrig

"The one constant through all the years has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It's been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt, and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game, is a part of our past. It reminds us of all that once was good, and what could be again."

- James Earl Jones in Field of Dreams

Tennessee Dores “Game Plan”

The Ultimate Player:  High intensity, highly competitive, coachable and committed.

The Ultimate Team:  A team is only as strong as its weakest link, and the best teams consist of a tight group of men who believe and support each other throughout the tough times as well as the easy.  A team that never accepts defeat, fights until the end and provides encouragement and motivation along the way will be a tough team to beat and great fun to be associated with.

The Ultimate Parent:  A parent is the most important line of support a young ball player can have.  Every player, whether they are elite or a role player, needs to feel confident that their parent is proud of their efforts.  The ultimate Dores parent shows that support but also provides the necessary discipline towards less than acceptable behavior.  A Dores parent must be willing to set the example by showing up on time and being supportive, encouraging and motivated.

The Dores Goal:  The Tennessee Dores have one chief goal - “To provide these kids with the knowledge and platform to take their game to the next level.”  This means, as a coaching staff, we must first set the example of hard work, discipline, sportsmanship, positive attitude and passion for the game.  We expect the same out of ourselves as we do of our parents and players and will work hard to make this vision of a strong organization a reality.

The Vision

Nashville is need of a local team to call their own - a team that can compete regionally at the younger ages and nationally at the older levels.  Our vision for the Tennessee Dores is to create not only a team but an organization that produces some of the states best talent and puts those players up against highly competitive teams around the nation.  Our goal is to create a program that develops college and big league players.

Over the next few years, our vision is to create multiple teams at multiple age groups along with finding other coaches who have the same drive and desire to teach as we do.  We strive to create a name that is second to none in amateur baseball. When you think of the Dores, you think high quality, competitive, developmental and fun.

Before long, the Dores would like to have not only a home field but a home complex where all age groups can compete, practice, train and hold tournaments and events.  This facility will be state of the art with all the necessities to produce the states top talent.
